6.7 Biphase control

With Biphase control it is possible to switch the output voltage of 2 MPM power units to opposite
phase. By making use of 2 MPM power units in Biphase mode, positive and negative ions are
generated simultaneously on the connected ionisation equipment so material is also neutralised
at high material speeds.
A biphase arrangement with 2 MPM Power units always consists of a "Master" MPM and a
"Slave" MPM. The "Slave" MPM receives a synchronisation signal from the "Master" MPM.
When the output voltage of the "Master" MPM is in the positive sinusoidal half wave of high
voltage, the output voltage of the "Slave" MPM is in the negative sinusoidal half wave of the
high voltage. See also Figure 13.
Figure 13: example of MPM Master and MPM Slave
The LED [Power] of the "Slave" MPM flashes slowly (once every 2 seconds). This indicates that
GB
the "Slave" MPM is receiving a synchronisation signal from the "Master" MPM.
