4 Use

4.1

Before First Use and Before Each Further Use

• Inspect the HF connecting cable, connectors, handle, footswitch, active electrode, and neutral electrode
thoroughly for visible irregularities. Accessories with brittle or defective insulation must not be used.
• Check the product for proper functioning.
• In case of doubt, return the products to the manufacturer or an authorized representative for
inspection.
• Dispose of defective products; they must not be used again.
4.2

Application

4.2.1

Using the active electrode

Risk of injury from electric shock and/or severe burns!
• Disconnect the electrode handle from the electrosurgical unit before inserting the active electrode!
• The active electrode used may still be very hot after use!
− Do not touch hot surfaces!
Possible damage to active electrode!
Active electrodes must not be exposed to leverage and must be protected against mechanical stress!
• Securely connect the electrode with the respectively corresponding shaft diameter at the tip of the
handle.
Ensure that the active electrode is completely inserted in the intended electrode holder.
4.2.2

Connection to the electrosurgical unit

The electrosurgical unit from Gebrüder Martin is connected with the corresponding cable on the electrode
handle or a separate connecting cable.
Risk of injury from electric shock and/or severe burns!
• Only connect the connecting cable to the monopolar socket of an electrosurgical unit which is switched
off or in STANDBY mode.
