What you need
∙ To make yoghurt you will need the
specifi ed amount of milk and, to start
the fermentation process, natural fresh
yoghurt (without sugar, fruit or fruit juice).
∙ Dry culture can be used instead of fresh
yoghurt. Simply follow the instructions on
the packet.
∙ Generally, any sort of milk can be used.
Sterilised or U. H. T. milk will give the
best results. Any other sort of milk should
be heated up to 90 °C for a short time
before use. Allow the milk to cool down to
approx. 40 °C afterwards.
Before using for the fi rst time
Before it is used for the fi rst time, the
appliance should be cleaned, including the
glass jars and their lids, as described under
Cleaning and care.
Preparing the glass jars
∙ Ensure the glass jars are clean and dry.
∙ Add 1 to 2 teaspoonful of natural yoghurt
(without sugar or fruit juice) into the glass
jars.
∙ Dry culture can be used instead of natural
yoghurt.
∙ Divide the yoghurt powder into the jars,
following the manufacturer's instructions.
The maximum amount per jar is about
160 ml.
∙ Briefl y heat up the milk to 90 °C and then
allow it to cool to approx. 40 °C.
∙ U. H. T. milk does not need to be heated
to a high temperature.
∙ Divide the milk equally into the glass
jars and mix the contents gently but
thoroughly. Put on the lids and screw
them down.
∙ With warm milk, it will take about 5 to 6
hours to make yoghurt.
∙ If cold milk is used, it will take 8 to
12 hours, depending on the initial
temperature.
Operation
∙ Set up the yoghurt maker in a room at
normal room temperature. Place the
prepared and closed glass jars in the
yoghurt maker and put on the top lid.
∙ Connect the appliance to the mains.
∙ The indicator light fl ashes slowly.
∙ Use the rotary control to set the desired
processing time (5-15 h).
∙ The minimum processing time that can be
set is 5 hours.
∙ After about a second, the indicator light
fl ashes once for each programmed hour.
∙ The yoghurt-making process begins. The
indicator light stays lit.
∙ The yoghurt maker should then be left
undisturbed until the yoghurt has set.
Avoid draught and shocks.
∙ Once the programmed processing
time has elapsed, the heating element
switches off automatically and the
indicator light fl ashes slowly.
∙ Turn the rotary control to its
