16. Never heat the pressure cooker without adding water to the pressure cooker. The ap-
pliance will suffer serious damage without water.
17. Never fill the pressure cooker with more than 2/3 of its nominal volume. If you are
preparing foods such as rice or dried vegetables. which swell during cooking, fill the
pressure cooker to no more than half.
18. If you have cooked meat in its skin (e.g. ox tongue) which can swell under pressure, do
not pierce the meat for as long as the skin is swollen. You could suffer burns.
19. If you are preparing mushy food, gently shake the pressure cooker before opening in
order to prevent the food from splashing out.
20. Do not interfere in any way with the safety systems, apart from maintenance as written
in the instructions for use.
21. Only use original spare parts for the model concerned. In particular make sure that the
body and the lid are by the same manufacturer and are compatible.
Save these instructions.

USING THE PRESSURE COOKER FOR THE FIRST TIME

Before using the pressure cooker the first time, wash the pan, lid and gasket with hot,
soapy water.
On electric cookers, the diameter of the pressure cooker base should match that of
the hotplate or ring. The compatible hob diameter is etched into the base of the pan.
(See section 14)
On some induction cookers noise may be generated whilst cooking under certain
conditions on account of cookware oscillation in sympathy with the magnetic field.
Unfortunately this cannot be prevented when using this cookware.
If you cook on gas, never allow the gas flame to lick the sides of the pan. If you do,
the exterior of the pan will become discoloured and the grips (or handles) will overheat
and degrade. We recommend using a flame protector.
