Dear customer,
we are delighted that you have chosen to pur-
chase the Lipomat 5-4000 fast charger.
This battery charger is easy to use, but never-
theless it is important to read right through
these operating instructions and the safety
notes at the end of the booklet before attemp-
ting to use the device for the first time.
1. General description
The Lipomat 5-4000 is a high-quality 12 V fast
charger housed in a metal case. It is designed
for charging Lithium and Lithium Polymer (LiPo)
batteries consisting of 1 to 5 cells each of 3.7
Volts, and features an integral equalizer (balan-
cer).
The unit features five separate charge outputs,
and can be considered virtually as five indivi-
dual single-cell chargers in one case.
The battery pack is connected to the charger
using the Voltage Sensor lead, and the unit then
charges the cells (including parallel-wired cells)
individually to a final charge voltage of 4.2 Volts.
This ensures that all the cells have the same
voltage at the end of the charge process, wit-
hout any loss of time.

If the charger is connected to the Power Peak
SPS 7A mains power supply (No. 8415), it can
also be operated from the 230 Volt mains. The
unit then becomes a dual-purpose 230 V AC /
12 V DC battery charger.
3. Connections
The battery to be charged must be fitted with a
Voltage Sensor lead.
If this is not the case, a suitable lead should be
attached to the pack as shown in the diagram.
