6. Troubleshooting guideline

Please see the table below if you experience any problems with the
Inverter Charger Combi and / or the installation.
Problem
Inverter Charger Combi is
not working at all.
Problem
Charger is not working
(AC transfer switch does
not activate either).
Problem
Battery is not being
charged up to it's
maximum capacity.
Problem
Charge current is too
low.
Problem
Mode indicator LEDs
'inverter on' , 'charger on'
and 'Line' are blinking
red once per second
(battery error).
Possible cause
Remote switch not connected / Remote switch
contacts not closed.
Remote switch has deactivated
the Inverter Charger Combi.
Poor contact between the Inverter Charger Combi
battery wires and the battery terminals.
Blown DC fuse.
Very poor battery condition.
Possible cause
The AC input voltage or frequency
are out of range or too unstable.
Possible cause
Incorrect absorption charge
voltage setting.
Incorrect charge current setting.
Too much voltage loss in battery cables and/
or connections.
Additional battery loads are consuming
too much current during charging.
Possible cause
High ambient temperature.
Charger is operating in the absorption
charging stage.
Possible cause
Battery voltage is too low
(< 8V)
Battery voltage is too high (>16.5V)
Too high ripple voltage on DC input.
(manual restart needed)

Remedy
Apply remote switch at terminal in connection bay /
check that remote switch closes.
Activate the Inverter Charger Combi remotely
or check DIP switch 8 or 10 for correct setting.
Clean battery terminals or Inverter Charger Combi
wire contacts. Tighten battery terminal screws.
Check battery fuse or internal Inverter Charger Combi
fuse (ICC 1600 SI-N / 60A only).
Replace battery.
Remedy
Make sure that the AC input voltage is between
185V – 270V and the frequency between 45Hz – 65Hz
(assuming standard settings).
Remedy
Check DIP switch 4, 5 and 6
for correct settings.
Adjust the charge current using DIP 2
(and DIP 8 for ICC 3000). Typically, the charge
current should be set to 10 % – 20 % of the total
battery capacity
Make sure that the battery cables have a large
enough diameter. Check if all DC connections are
solidly made.
Turn-off or disconnect all battery loads.
Remedy
Try to lower the ambient temperature
around the Inverter Charger Combi.
Do nothing. The battery is almost fully
charged and consumes less current by itself.
Remedy
Battery is damaged, replace it. Or battery has been
discharged too extremely, let it slowly recover to
above 8.5V so that the transfer switch and charger
can startup to recharge the battery.
Check the DC system for an external source that
pushes the battery voltage too high.
Check battery wire connections. Decrease battery
cable length. Increase battery and/or cable size.
Make sure that no other equipment on the same
battery is generating a high ripple voltage.
