3.7. Filter use and operations.
3.7.1.
Filtration (Fig. 14).
Normal operation. Water is sucked up from the filter and is returned clean to the pool after having passed through the sand in the filter.
3.7.2.
Backwash (Fig. 15).
Backwashing is a function for cleaning the sand in the filter without emptying it.
Backwashing must be carried out whenever the water flow coming out of the filter has decreased significantly.
In this phase the water passes through the sand in the opposite direction and comes out of the drain cock where before there was an exchange tube connected to a drain.
For backwashing you must:
- Close the water return to the pool.
- Move the water return tube connected to the filter and connect it the opposite way so that it goes to a drain.
All you have to do is operate the filter in the backwash mode for about 2-3 minutes to have it perfectly clean.
Caution: quite a few litres of water are used in this phase.
Caution:Always switch the pump off when operations are done on the filter.
3.7.3.
.
Cleaning the water
Visible dirt is eliminated by the filter, except for algae, bacteria and other microorganisms, which can contaminate the pool water. To eliminate these polluting bodies, there
are specific products that must be used regularly and dosed properly. Only this way will the pool water be kept hygienically clean and clear.
Caution: All SPF filter versions are equipped with a thermal switch that is activated and interrupts pump operations if overheated. In this case the power feed must be
disconnected and you must wait at least 2 hours before switching the filter on again.
3.7.4.
Useful advice.
To reduce problems of fine dust found in the sand and that goes into the water, we recommend you to start the plant following these indications:
I.
Activate the filter pump at the "Filtration" mode and make sure that the filter waste goes into a drain. This operation must not last more than 1-2 minutes. Switch the
pump off and set the filter in the "Backwash" mode.
II.
Backwash for about 2-3 minutes and make sure, as already mentioned, that the tube connected to the waste outlet goes into a drain.
III.
Switch the pump off and restore the filter to the "Filtration" mode.
3.7.5.
Storing in winter.
At the end of summer dismantle the filter and disconnect the tubes. Make the water go out of the tank and pump. Remove the sand from the filter and put it where it will not
freeze. The sand can be kept for the next season.
When handling the filter be careful as it is heavy.
Damage caused by freezing is not included in the guarantee!
3.8.
Problems and solutions.
Sand inside the pool
Sand present after cleaning the bottom for the first time
Leakages in general
Very scarce water flow
The pool water does not become clear.
The pump does not work.
For any further problems contact your dealer!
3.9.
Maintenance.
Before carrying out any operations remember to disconnect the plug and never put your hands into the water when the pump is running.
Filter maintenance consists simply in cleaning it with a backwash.
