Installing the electrical kit for the trailer stabilisation system
1. Disconnect battery ground terminal.

Remove the following components and panelling in the interior:
Glove box, if necessary bottle holder, ashtray

Right-hand side panelling under glove box

Light switch, left panelling

Panelling on left and right next to steering column, lower centre panelling

Remove the following components and panelling in the engine compartment:
Complete engine compartment cover

Battery, partition between battery and engine

Battery base carrier
-

On the relay carrier (Fig. 3/3) positioned centrally beneath the cockpit, pull the minirelay from
the 'CE' socket, unclip the relay base from the relay carrier.

Open the purple catch on the relay base, unlock all single cables and connect as follows:
Black/red cable out of chamber 1 from relay base into the 1-pin black housing provided

Black/blue cable out of chamber 3 from the relay housing into chamber 2 of the 3-pin

black housing provided
Black/red cable out of chamber 4 from the relay housing into chamber 1 of the 3-pin black
-
housing provided
Brown/red cable out of chamber 5 from the relay housing into chamber 3 of the 3-pin

black housing provided

Plug together the 3-pin and the 1-pin housings with the corresponding mating connectors
from the cable set provided.

Engage the relay base from this cable set in the CO socket on the relay carrier and connect
the relay provided.

Route the free cable end to the right side of the vehicle. Connect the brown cable with the ring
contact to the vehicle ground point on the right below the A-pillar (Fig. 3/1) on the passenger
side.

Push the white/blue single cable with corrugated pipe through a free hole into the mounting
plate grommet behind the blower motor (Fig. 4/2) in the engine compartment.
10 Route the corrugated pipe up and along the splash guard on the welded studs with the cable
ties provided to the left vehicle side up to the brake fluid container.
11 Further route the cable along the existing corrugated pipes under the battery carrier and then
to the 47-pin connector on the ESP control unit (Fig. 4/4).
12 Disconnect the plug from the ESP control unit by pulling sideways on the black catch.
13 Release the black cover cap on the connector, remove cable ties and open the purple catch
by pushing.
14 Remove the blanking plug from chamber 44 (> MY 2006) or from chamber 35 (MY 2007 >)
and press and lock the contact for the single cable here.
15 Reassemble and refit the connector following the reverse sequence.
