When working with the machine, always hold it
firmly with both hands and provide for a secure
stance.
The machine can be used only for dry sanding.
Do not work with materials containing asbes-
tos.
Do not continue to use worn, torn or clogged
sanding belts.
Clamp the workpiece if it does not remain sta-
tionary due to its own weight.
Care should be taken to ensure that the oper-
ator or foreign objects do not come into contact
with the running sanding belt.
When grinding metal, flying sparks are pro-
duced. Take care that no persons are endan-
gered. Due to danger of fire, no combustible
materials should be located in the vicinity
(spark flight zone).
Never allow children to use the machine.
Bosch is only able to ensure perfect operation
of the machine if the original accessories in-
tended for it are used.
Intended Use
The machine is intended for dry sanding of wood,
plastic, metal, filler and coated surfaces – at high
removal rates.
Dust Extraction
The dust that is produced while working can
be detrimental to health, inflammable or ex-
plosive. Suitable safety measures are re-
quired.
Examples: Some dusts are regarded as carci-
nogenic. Use suitable dust /chip extraction
and wear a dust respirator.
Dust from light alloys can burn or explode. Al-
ways keep the workplace clean, as blends of ma-
terials are particularly dangerous.
Internal Vacuuming with Dust Box
(see figures
)
A1-A4
Attaching the dust box:
Attach the dust box onto the outlet piece 9 and al-
low it to snap in; take care that the holder 8
latches in the corresponding groove of the ma-
chine.

Emptying the dust box:
Caution, fire hazard!
In unfavourable conditions, e. g. when
sparks emit from sanding metals, sand-
ing-debris in the dust bag, microfilter or
paper sack (or in the filter sack or filter
of the wet/dry vacuum cleaner) can self-
ignite. Particularly when mixed with re-
mainders of varnish, polyurethane or
other chemical materials and when the
sanding debris is hot after long periods
of working.
Avoid overheating the object being
sanded as well as the power tool and al-
ways empty the dust collector before
work-breaks.
Actuate the latching lever 10 and pull off the dust
box downwards.
Before opening the dust box, it is recommended
to loosen the dust from the filter element by strik-
ing against a hard surface.
Grasp the dustbox by the recessed grip, fold the
filter element (micro filtersystem) 11 upwards and
empty the dust box 3. Clean the thin plates of the
filter system with a soft brush.
Note: To guarantee optimum dust extraction effi-
ciency, empty the dust container in good time and
regularly knock out the dust from the filter.
Changing the Tool
(see figure
Before any work on the machine itself, pull
the mains plug.
Swivel out the clamping lever 12 fully. The sand-
ing belt is now loose and can be taken off.
Mount a new sanding belt.
The arrows on the inside of the sanding belt
and the machine housing should indicate the
same direction.
Swivel the clamping lever 12 back again to its
original position.
Pick up the machine and switch it on. The belt run
is automatically centred upon switching on the
machine and during the sanding procedure.
If the sanding belt is not centered after switching
on the machine, the belt run must be readjusted
manually, as required. For this, readjust adjust-
ment screw 5 at the front roll using a screwdriver
until the belt runs centered over the guide plate.
Should the belt run still not be centered after this,
the sanding belt is to be replaced.
Store sanding belts only hanging; avoid creasing,
as this makes the belts unusable!
