Safety instructions

The warranty expires in the event of any damage caused
by failing to comply with the operating instructions! We do
not accept responsibility for any damage resulting thereof!
We do not accept liability for any defects or damage to
persons or property caused by improper use of the prod-
uct or by failing to comply with safety instructions. The
warranty expires in all such cases.
Please read the complete operating instructions before
taking the device into operation for the first time.
Any modification or alterations to the device are prohibited
by the user or third parties for safety reasons and because
these would be contrary to CE certification approval.
In order to ensure safe operation at all times, these safety
instructions, warnings and the chapter "Intended Use"
must be complied with at all times.
Please note the following instructions
before operating the device:
• Avoid using the appliance near electric welding de-
vices, induction heaters and other electromagnetic
fields.
• Please give the device 15 minutes to stabilise and ad-
just to the new surrounding temperature before tak-
ing into operation after abrupt changes in tempera-
ture.
• Do not subject the device to high temperatures over a
longer period.
• Avoid damp and dusty environmental conditions. Keep
the device in the storage bag after use to prevent the
lens from coming into direct contact with dirt or
grime.
• The user is wholly and solely responsible for the de-
termining of valid measuring results and for any con-
clusions and practical measures resulting thereof!
We neither guarantee nor do we accept liability for
the accuracy of the determined results. We shall at no
time accept any liability for any damages that might
occur from using the measuring results as made
available by the device.
Laser warning
Never point the laser beam either directly or
indirectly via a reflecting object in the direction of
a person's eyes. Laser radiation can cause irreparable
damage to the eye. The laser beam must be deactivated
when measurements are performed when people are in
the vicinity.

The intended use of the device comprises contact-free
measurement from -50 °C to +1,600 °C as well as tem-
perature measurement from -50 °C to 1,370 °C with an ex-
ternal temperature sensor type K.
Power may only be supplied via 9V block batteries type
NEDA 1604, IEC 6LR61 or batteries that are identical in
construction. Alternatively, power can also be supplied
via a computer USB port.
Operation is only allowed in dry environments. Contact with
moisture should be avoided at all times.
Any other use apart from the above described will invari-
ably lead to damage of the product. Improper use could
lead to hazards, e.g. short circuits, fire, etc. The entire prod-
uct may not be opened, altered or changed in any way!
Directive 2002/96EU of the EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND
COUNCIL of 27 January 2003 regarding old electrical and
electronic equipment. Please dispose of this appliance in
a manner appropriate to the relevant legal requirements at
the end of its life.

Infrared thermometers measure the surface temperature
of an object. The device's sensor measures the emitted, re-
flected and escaping thermal radiation and converts this
information into a temperature value.
