Taking into operation
You must first insert a 9V battery into the device before you
are able to work with the infrared thermometer for the first
time. The proper way to insert a battery is described in full
detail in chapter 6.
9.2
Measuring procedure
Pull the measuring trigger
In order to measure the temperature, point the opening of
the IR sensor at the object to be measured and keep the
trigger
pulled during the entire measuring process.
Active display mode (SCAN)
The infrared thermometer measures the surface temper-
ature of the targeted area as long as the measuring trig-
ger
is kept pulled. The display is in active display mode
throughout the whole measuring process.
Please ensure that the size of the measuring spot is not
larger than the object to be measured throughout the en-
tire measuring process (see chapter 7). The temperature
value that is being measured at that moment in time is
shown on the central reading display on the display.
Maximum value indicator
In order to locate the hottest spot of an object, the infrared
thermometer is pointed at a spot which lies outside the tar-
get area; the whole target area is scanned in a criss-
cross fashion whilst the trigger

termining the hottest spot in

ing the measuring process in the form of a trend scale. If
the indicator deflection is low, then the current reading is
far below the highest temperature that has been deter-
mined up to that point. The higher the indicator deflection,
the closer the current reading is to the highest determined
temperature value.
Passive display mode (Hold)
As soon as you let go of the measuring trigger
vice automatically switches from active mode to passive
mode.
The determined values are displayed for roughly a further
7 seconds in passive mode.
If no further measurements are carried out and no further in-
puts are made within this time frame, then the device shuts
down automatically in order to conserve battery power.
Switching locations
Please remember that the measuring device has to be
given time to adjust to the new surrounding conditions
when there is a change of location with varying climatic
conditions.
The device normally requires several minutes to adjust. The
higher the climatic difference, the longer the adjustment
phase!

Switching the target laser ON/OFF
The infrared thermometer has a dual laser which can au-
tomatically visualise the size of the measuring spot. The
distance between the laser beams equals the diameter of
the measuring spot.
The dual laser serves solely to acquire the target and is
only visible for the duration of the measuring process. It can
be switched either on or off in active as well as passive
mode by simply pressing the "Enter" key
The "Enter" key can also be used to switch the
background illumination on and off.
In order to activate the target laser, press the "En-
ter" key
until the symbol "Target Laser On" ap-
pears. The target laser is now visible and will remain so
throughout the whole measuring process.
