General Directions

Dear Customer,
in purchasing these snow chains you have chosen a high quality
product, manufactured in Germany, on advanced production
equipment with constant monitoring of quality standards.
Snow chains represent an important accessory, providing added
safety on winter roads. To ensure that your chains give good service
for many years and get you to your destination safely, please follow
the directions set out below. We cannot accept liability for any loss,
damage or injury whatsoever resulting from the non-observance of
the following directions.
1. Read carefully the vehicle user's manual and the recommenda-
tions of the vehicle manufacturer relating to the use of snow
chains.
2. Follow the fitting instructions exactly. Failure to do so can result
in the chain failing to function correctly causing damage to the
vehicle and increasing the risk of an accident.
3. Snow chains increase and improve the grip of the drive wheels
when travelling and during braking (e. g. on ice or snowcovered
roads in winter or cross-country). They are not suitable for any
other purpose.
4. Please note that the road holding and braking characteristics of
your vehicle can be affected when snow chains are fitted, you
should therefore adapt your driving methods accordingly.
With snow chains fitted, the behavior of your vehicle will be
affected
on roads free of ice or snow (e. g. longer braking
distance).
5. It is advisable to carry out an initial trial fitting of your snow
chains at home, before they are needed in earnest. Check that
the tyre size given on the pack matches the tyres on your vehicle.
(Caution! The tyre size designation must be identical in every
detail. There is a considerable difference between e. g. 175-14
and 175/70-14 tyres).
If a perfect fit is not assured (see directions for use) the chains
must not be used in these circumstances, please consult your
dealer. The tyre pressures specified by the vehicle manufacturer
must also be adjusted when snow chains are used.
6. Inspect the chains before fitting on every
occasion. A chain can be used with a link
showing 50% wear on one side. If any part
of the chains reveals more than 50% wear,
or is broken, do not use the chain, but
return it to the factory for repair. If a link
breaks, remove the chain immediately, to
prevent damaging the vehicule.
Chain repairs must be carried out only by the manufacturer,
otherwise the separate guarantee, as distinct from the statutory
warranty will be invalidated.
7. Always fit the chain as a pair on the drive wheels, in the case of
four wheel drive vehicles, please follow the directions of the
vehicle manufacturer on the use of snow chains.
8.
Speed limit
for vehicles fitted
Under certain circumstances, the speed limit elsewhere may
vary. Please observe the speed limit in force in the country of
use.
9. Avoid wheel spin.
10.When using your vehicle with snow chans fitted inspect their
condition every time you stop (see also point 6 above).
11. Do not drive unless the tensioning chain is properly tensioned.
Check that the chain is uniformly positioned. When correctly
tensioned, it can be lifted off the tyre by approximately 1 cm. An
incorrectly (i. e. loosely) mounted chain may come into contact
with the vehicle. In this case, check the chain for correct fitting
and retension if necessary.
12.Bear in mind that the durability of your chains depends on your
method of driving. Careful driving with chains installed will pay
off by prolonging their service life.
with snow-chains is 30 mph.
How to reverse the chain:
Pull spring steel bow over the black ring and the grey safety ring.
Press both bottons (arrow) beside the locking slot (from the backside)
and turn anti-clock-wise to release from the black ring. Replace the
grey safety ring on the opposite.
Important:
Take care that all 6 bayonet sockets
track in the black ring.
Now move the grey safety ring clockwise, as long as both
bottons are locked.
Care of chains: As soon as possible after use, wash the chains
in warm water and allow them to dry, then lay them out in the
vehicle. Do not oil them. Although made of high-grade steel, they
are not corrosion-proof. Minor rust formation does not affect the
quality of the chains. Chains are configured for tyres with summer
and winterprofiles, to dimensions complying with DIN or ETRTO
standards.
