Winterizing

1.
Stop the machine
If the heat pump is in a heating phase, stop it.
Nota Bene :
Never stop the heat pump during a thermodyanamic defrosting phase or just after one, this could lead
to problems when the heat pump is restarted at the beginning of the following season (successive triggering of
the " HP " mechanism before the heat pump starts).
Trip the circuit breaker in the electrical panel.
Disconnect the machine, roll up the cable and store it.
2.
Purge the heat exchanger
Close the by-pass valves to hydraulically isolate the machine.
Unscrew the top union and then the bottom union: water will drain from the machine by gravity. The heat
exchanger must be drained to avoid the risk of freezing of any stagnant water that could damage its
internal components; the titanium exchanger, the flowswitch, etc.

TROUBLESHOOTING

The heat pump is not energised (display blank)
Points to be checked:
Has the heat pump's dedicated circuit breaker been tripped?
Are the electrical connections (in the electrical panel, connection box, etc) correctly tightened?
The heat pump is energised (display on), but nothing happens on start up
Is the machine in a time out phase (lasts 3 to 5 minutes)
Is the set point correct? value entered correctly
Is filtration running?
The heat pump starts up but the then the circuit breaker trips.
Perhaps the differential circuit breaker or thermal magnetic circuit breaker dedicated to the heat pump line
is not D curve?
The total amperage allowed by the circuit breaker in the home or in the plant housing is exceeded.
Is the amperage of the thermal protection of the line supplying the heat pump too low?
Is the home situated at the end of the electrical supply line? if it is, a significant drop in voltage on start up
could explain this phenomenon, etc.
The heat pump is running, but does not heat the water adequately
Check that water is heated correctly as it runs through the heat pump (1 to 5°C depending on the model) :
If it is, then the water is being heated correctly but heat loss from the pool is too high (cold nights, pool not
protected by an isothermal cover, etc.)
The heat pump is under-dimensioned with respect to the pool volume
The duration of the daily programmed filtration cycles is insufficient,
Check that the set point is correct
Air circulation through the evaporator may be obstructed:
Check that minimum clearance distances between the heat pump and neighbouring obstacles have been
respected.
Check that the evaporator is free of moss, dust, pollen, etc.
The heat pump is not defrosting properly
Does the thermodynamic defrosting phase start? Audible sound + change in pitch of the compressor and
melting (partial) of the frost.
Frost remains on the bottom of the evaporator: condensates do not drain:
The heat pump is not sloped slightly towards the condensate drainage hole
The condensate drainage hole is blocked
