SPECIFIC PRECAUTIONS FOR THE BATTERY PACK

The BLN Ex-3 battery pack uses Li-Ion elements, specially selected to meet the operating
requirements of the TPH700 Ex.
In addition, this battery pack is equipped with a protection circuit with active and passive
safety devices (fuses).
However, just like all batteries using rechargeable Lithium Ion or Lithium Polymer
elements, the pack is sensitive to temperature and some types of usages. Therefore, to
use the TPH700 Ex safely and in an optimised manner, comply with:
• safety recommendations (see Section 3.2.1),
• usage recommendations (see Section 3.2.2),
• storage recommendations (see Section 3.2.3),
• packaging recommendations (see Section 3.2.4),
• general transport information (see Section 3.2.5),
• scrapping recommendations (see Section 3.2.6).
3.2.1

Safety recommendations

When using the radio, the user must comply with conventional safety precautions and read
the certificate beforehand to eliminate any malfunctioning for the radio.
3.2.1.1

Usage precautions

The following usage precautions must be complied with:
• the battery must only be changed outside of the explosive zone,
• do not discharge batteries other than when installed in a TPH700 Ex radio,
• the battery must not be transported alone in the explosive zone,
• only the BLN Ex-3 battery specified by the manufacturer can be used,
• using other batteries is strictly prohibited and will lead to the cancellation of the
protection Ex,
• the battery must only be charged outside of the explosive zone using one of the
following chargers:
- travel charger for TPH700 "PN1194*" (* = final characters based on the country),
- multi-charger for TPH700 "HR7797*" (* = final characters based on the country),
- office charger for TPH700 "HR7814*" (* = final characters),
- cigarette lighter charger for TPH700 "HR7875AA",
- charger built into a hands-free car kit holder for TPH700 "HR7798BA".
• do not expose batteries to temperatures above 55 °C (131 °F).
