GENERAL SAFETY AND OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE
TPH700 EX

This document includes safety information and precautions which must absolutely be
complied with to ensure safe operation in the conditions described. Non-compliance with

this information and these precautions can lead to serious consequences or represent a

breach of safety standards.

Read this document carefully before using the radio.
3.1.1
Anomalies and damage

If it is suspected that safety levels have been reduced for the radio, on any grounds, use of
R
the radio must cease immediately and the radio must be removed from the explosive zone.
A
Action must be taken to avoid the accidental use of the radio.
N
The user is advised to return the radio to the manufacturer for inspecting.
C
The safety of the radio may be endangered if, for example:
A
• the casing has been visibly damaged,
I
• the radio has been excessively recharged,
S
• the radio has been stored in inappropriate conditions,
• the radio has been damaged during transport,
• the marks or text on the radio cannot be read,
E
• malfunctions occur,
S
• maximum allowable values have been exceeded.

3.1.2
Safety precautions
A
When using this radio, the user must comply with conventional safety precautions and read

the certificate beforehand to eliminate any malfunctioning for this radio.

The following safety precautions must also be complied with:
L
• the radio and the battery must not be opened,
• TPH700 Ex inputs and outputs are all declared SELV (Safety Extra Low Voltage),
• the antenna must not be bent beyond an angle of 90°,
• the antenna must not be unscrewed or changed in the explosive zone,

• only authorised accessories must be connected to the accessory connector
E
(see Plate A-II, item 15),

• the accessory connector plug must be held in place when no accessory is connected,
T
• make sure that the radio is not carried into zone 0,
C
• accessories i.e. battery chargers that are connected to the TPH700 shall only be
H
connected to a supply circuit that has maximum prospective short circuit current of
35 A a.c. or less,
• the value Um = 8.25 V (also 35 A for current) is valid for all connections of the device
outside the hazardous area,
