If the device does not work properly, fi rst check whether you are able to rectify the
problem yourself.
Do not attempt to repair a defective electrical device yourself!

1. Carefully pull out the crumb tray (14).
2. Remove the crumbs and wipe the crumb tray (14) with a
damp cloth if necessary or rinse it under running water
with mild detergent.
3. Then thoroughly dry the crumb tray (14) and reinsert it.
Possible cause / solution
•
Is the mains plug inserted in the socket correctly?
•
Is the socket defective? Try another socket.
•
Check the fuse of the mains connection.
•
Is the device switched on? Flip the On / Off switch (4) to the
0 position.
•
Are the permanent fi lter (7) and the permanent fi lter holder (9)
inserted correctly? Correct their fi t.
•
Is there suffi cient water in the water tank (11)? Pour water into
the water tank (11).
•
Is the lowering lever (12) pressed down? Press it down.
•
Set a lower toasting level on the rotary knob (13).
•
Pull the mains plug out of the plug socket and allow the de-
vice to cool down. Move the lowering lever (12) up and down
a few times to release bread which is stuck.
•
The bread slices may be too thick. Use more thinly sliced
bread.
•
Is the crumb tray (14) full? Pull the mains plug out of the plug
socket and allow the device to cool down. Clean the crumb
tray (14).
•
The bread slices may be too thick and touch the heating
wires. Use more thinly sliced bread.
