2. Place your thumb and index finger over the disposable
prophy tip. (Figure 2)
3. Gently push the handpiece downward and the tip will
disengage. (Figure 3)
4. Discard the used plastic SofTip Disposable Prophy Tip
in accordance with applicable standards for disposal
of biohazard materials. Proceed with sterilization of the
ultrasonic insert and the SofTip wrench. (Figure 4)
Operation Instructions:
1. Ensure that the ultrasonic scaler is set to LOW power.
2. Adjust the water control until the water (lavage) flows with a
rapid drip or small spray.
3. Use very light pressure with a light pen or modified pen
grasp.

4. Use a light but stable intraoral or extraoral fulcrum.
5. Adapt the insert so the point is not directed into the implant
surface.
6. Use a light, smooth, gentle touch.
7. Keep the insert tip in motion at all times, using overlapping
horizontal, vertical or oblique brush-like strokes.
8. It may be necessary to use more than one SofTip disposable
prophy tip during a prophylaxis procedure.
O-RING CARE:
Before placing the insert into the handpiece, performing the
following steps will increase the o-ring life on Cavitron inserts:
• Fill entire handpiece with water.
• Lubricate o-ring (black rubber material) with water.
• Gently twist the insert down into the handpiece until the insert
is fully seated in place.
