10. MAINTENANCE

10.1 NOTES FOR MAINTENANCE TECHNICIANS

Ensure that the barrier is properly maintained by carrying out the following checks periodically, in accordance with the
maintenance handbook provided by the installer.
Once a year:
1. Clean and lubricate the link guides, the roller bearing and the spring tensioning rod;
2. Check and tighten the bolts that anchor the group and the supports.
Information
Maintenance must be carried out by qualifi ed personnel or by an authorised service centre only.
!
Warning
Before carrying out maintenance operations, disconnect the mains power supply using the differential circuit breaker in the
electrical installation.

11. UNINSTALLING

To uninstall the barrier, carry out the installation procedure in reverse.
Before carrying out any other operation, ensure that the entire electrical circuit of the barrier is de-energised by opening
the main power switch and checking the terminals with a suitable measuring instrument.
At the end of its working life, the barrier and its components must be disposed of in accordance with the applicable
regulations.

12. RESIDUAL HAZARDS

In case of emergency operation:
• MANUAL OPERATING CRANK EXPULSION HAZARD.
When operating the barrier manually, the crank (supplied) must be used to drive the entire geared motor.
When normal operation is restored, if the crank has not been removed it could be expelled violently by the rotation of the
motor and thrown clear. For safety reasons, electrical operations can only be carried out once the side inspection panel
has been replaced; therefore, any damage will be limited to the barrier mechanical parts.
In case of manual operation always ensure that the CRANK IS REMOVED BEFORE REPLACING THE SIDE
PANEL.
In case of maintenance:
• COMPENSATION SPRING RELEASE HAZARD when the barrier is closed.
Quando l'asta è abbassata la molla di compensazione è carica ed è compressa tra la struttura della barriera e il suo When
the barrier is lowered, the compensation spring is loaded, and the barrier structure and its adjuster nut are compressed. In
this position, attempting to adjust or remove the compensation group could cause the spring to release violently, resulting
in injury to persons and/or damage to property.
When adjusting the spring, the BARRIER SHOULD BE OPEN (see para. "Commissioning" points 10 and 11).
• CRUSHING HAZARD from moving mechanical parts.
The geared motor unit that operates the barrier consists of various mechanical components, which could become hooked
onto, drag and crush objects or clothing, causing traumas and injuries.
For this reason ALWAYS EXERCISE EXTREME CAUTION WHEN OPERATING THE BARRIER (INCLUDING MANUAL
OPERATIONS) AND NEVER USE THE BARRIER UNLESS THE UPPER SAFETY GUARD IS FITTED.
• presence of HAZARDOUS VOLTAGES.
Hazardous voltages may be present in the control circuit located inside the barrier central structure. All live components
have been isolated, however personnel should EXERCISE EXTREME CAUTION, OPENING THE MAIN POWER
SWITCH AND VERIFYING THAT THERE ARE NO VOLTAGES PRESENT INSIDE THE CIRCUIT USING A SUITABLE
MEASURING INSTRUMENT BEFORE CARRYING OUT ANY OTHER OPERATION.
!
Warning
COMMISSIONING, FINAL ADJUSTMENTS AND PERIODIC MAINTENANCE OF THE BARRIER MUST BE CARRIED
OUT BY TECHNICALLY QUALIFIED PERSONNEL ONLY.
DO NOT MODIFY OR REMOVE THE SAFETY DEVICES INSTALLED ON THE MAIN UNIT.
ENSURE THAT THE MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL ARE PROVIDED WITH A COPY OF THIS MANUAL.
