Instructions For Use
Flex-Sprint
Flex-Sprint System (A)
• Custom foot for track & field sports
• Preferred transfemoral sprinting foot
• Clearance
– Minimum: 254mm (10")
– Maximum: 358mm (14")
• Maximum weight 130 kg (285 lbs)
• One adult size available
Connector Options
To achieve the desired alignment two different
L –shaped adapters are available
5° L- Bracket (D)
FSX50005 (1-6)
• Used for 4-hole pyramid attachment proximally
• Foot module is bolted to connector
20° L-Bracket (E)
FSX50006 (1-6)
• Used for 4-hole pyramid attachment
• Foot module is bolted to connector
Bolts go through adapter first then through foot
module. Apply Loctite 410 to all threads and torque
to following spectifications:

Bolt Size

L

3/8"
Friction Pads
Always use between T and foot module. If alignment
wedges are used, place friction pads between
each layer.
Bench Alignment
Sagital plane (C)
Weight line bisects foot and socket or passes through
the anterior half of the foot module
Determine the appropriate socket flexion according to
amputee requirements.
TM
Torque
19 Nm (14 ft-lbs)
33 Nm (24 ft-lbs)
45 Nm (33 ft-lbs)
Coronal plane (B)
• Introduce appropriate socket abduction/adduction
(using a jig)
• 5°-7° additional external rotation
• Achieve proper height approximately 50mm (2")
longer than the sound side with shoe to
compensate for vertical compression and plantar
flexion
Note: The recommendations for bench alignment are
used as a starting point.
Definitive alignment will be achieved during dynamic
assessment.
Cutting Foot Module
• Before cutting check for enough clearance
• Measure for length and add 75mm (3"). The final
height is approximately 50mm (2") taller than the
sound side
• Clamp foot module in vice. Use a sharp fine tooth
hacksaw blade.
• Sand away any sharp edges
• Secure foot using fitting clamps or synthetic plaster
bandages.
• Cut again if necessary.
Drilling Foot Module Attachment Holes
• Back-up foot module when drilling using wood
block or discarded carbon fiber section and clamp
securely.
• Use drill guide template to locate holes.
• Use sharp drill bit suggest bullet nose or solid
carbide tipped drill bits.
• Drill size:
Cat. 1-3:
Cat. 4-6:
Cat. 7-9:
• Drill speed 1200-1800 RPM.
• Feed drill slowly with light intermittent pressure -
do not force.
• Foot is now ready for assembly
Dynamic Alignment
Physical ability and length of residual limb will result
in different alignment. Best performance will be
achieved with best achievable symmetry of gait.
