STIHL recommends STIHL MotoPlus.
This fuel is virtually free of benzene,
sulphur and toxic aromatics.
Tank capacity: 0,9 litres
Avoid damage to the machine!
STIHL recommends always using
fresh, good quality fuel and never
using petrol with an oil additive (2-
stroke mixture). Do not use stale or
contaminated fuel. Avoid
contaminating the tank contents
with dirt and water. Do not use
unapproved petrol like E85.
Change the petrol brand if you hear
knocking or ringing. If necessary,
contact your specialist dealer;

specialist dealers.
● Park the STIHL gardening power tool
on a flat surface, stop the engine and
allow to cool.
● Unscrew tank cap (1).
● Add petrol only as far as the
lower edge of the filler neck
so that the fuel has room to
expand.
Use a suitable funnel.
● Screw tank cap (1) back on
again.
7. Maintenance

7.1 Maintenance schedule

The specified service intervals must be
strictly observed for safe, economical and
fault-free operation.

Risk of injury!
Stop the engine and detach the
spark plug socket before all
maintenance operations.
Before each use:
● Check the oil filling level (
● Check the air filter (

After the first 5 operating hours or after
1 month:
● Change the engine oil (
Every 25 operating hours or every 3

● Clean the air filter (

● Have the inspection carried out by a

7.2 Checking and cleaning the air
filters
● Park the STIHL gardening power
tool on a flat surface. Clean the air filter
cover and housing.
● Press in tabs (1) and remove cover (2).
● Remove large filter (3) and small
filter (4).
● Check all parts of the air filter for
damage and replace if necessary. In
particular replace damaged or very dirty
foam filters.
Clean filters (3, 4) every 25 hours of
operation or every 3 months. Clean
filters (3, 4) more frequently if using the

conditions.
● To clean:
Tap the foam filter to dislodge dirt and
rinse with soapy water – dispose of

contaminated soapy water in an
environmentally friendly manner.
Immerse a new or cleaned small
filter (4) in fresh engine oil before
installing – squeeze out excess engine
oil.
● Assemble the air filter in reverse order.

7.3 Changing the engine oil

Engine oil should be drained from a
warm engine – warm engine oil
drains quickly and completely.
Danger of burns!
Do not touch hot parts of the
engine.
● Empty the tank (e.g. by running empty).

Park the STIHL gardening power tool
on a flat surface.
● Place a suitable oil collection container
next to the STIHL gardening power tool
– note the minimum capacity. (
● Unscrew the oil dipstick. (
● Empty all the engine oil through the filler
neck and into the oil collection container
by tilting the STIHL gardening power
tool to the side.
