Specific safety instructions
Torch soldering
Move flammable materials and recipients containing flammable liquids before starting work.
Never perform soldering on recipients that have contained flammable liquids material, even if empty, as their residual
fumes are highly explosive.
Place the items to be soldered on a supporting base made of refractory material, as materials such as concrete or
brick may explode, causing chips to fly, when subjected to high temperatures.
Wear protective goggles and insulating gloves, wear a hair-net over long hair.
Gas combustion consumes the oxygen in the air. Always work in a properly ventilated space. Do not breathe in the
fumes and smoke emitted during soldering.
Keep a fire extinguisher in the immediate vicinity of the work place.
In hazardous areas, work liable to cause a fire must be covered by a "fire permit ". Refer to the local legislation and
regulations.
Prior to starting work, ensure that the torch, the hose and the couplings are in good condition and well sealed. If a
defective seal or a mechanical problem is detected, do not start work and take the defective equipment to an
authorised repairer.
The gas cylinders contain liquid gas at high pressure. Handle them with care, avoiding shocks, and stand them
vertically, ensuring that they cannot topple.
Store gas cylinders at a moderate temperate and do not expose them to heat. Do not store them in places that can
become overheated in summer, such as a site hut or the boot of a vehicle.
The burner becomes very hot when working, always set the torch down on a non-combustible and insulating support.
Wait for the burner to cool before storing the torch.
