OPERATION TEST
7.1
OPERATION TESTING AFTER THE ASSEMBLY. FIRST TEST
If the installation of the system has been properly carried out, according to all rules and regulations, it can be
assumed that the operation efficiency of the system is guaranteed.
Quality and running of each component are subject to strict controls and are controlled by the factory before the
delivery. When the assembly of the plant is finished, before the first test takes place - eventually also before TUV
tests, an operation testing of the safety gear should be carried out.
FIRST TEST RUN AFTER THE ASSEMBLY
Before the operation testing takes place, it is necessary to slowly run through the whole area of action (with an
inspection control device). Simultaneously, attention should be paid by making sure that there is a sufficient
distance, between all fastening elements, particularly in the fixing area of the guide rails and of the safety
gear. If possible before that, locate and remove screw projections and other dangerous narrow points.
Before the first test run:
CLEAN THE GUIDE RAILS!!!!!!!!!!
ATTENTION: before the beginning of the run, leave the elevator shaft free from persons and objects.
DANGER OF CRUSHING!!!!!!!!
STATIC FUNCTION TEST
• Operate by hand (20-40 N) the engaging linkage (or also the overspeed governor rope). At the same time drive
the elevator car slowly downwards by means of the return control (inspection control device).
• After a few centimeters, the elevator car must be stopped, symmetrically, by the right and left safety gear head.
• The safety contact must respond.
• Subsequently release the safety gear, by running the elevator car upwards. The engaging linkage and the
safety contact must return to their starting position.
The procedure for the safety contact with the quick-break switch must be manually reset.
DYNAMIC FUNCTION TEST (STOP TEST WITH OR WITHOUT RATED LOAD)
• Drive the elevator car with or without rated load at nominal speed downwards.
• Operate the overspeed governor (or the remote control if present). The safety gear must bring the elevator
car to a standstill.
• The safety contact must release and switch off the safety circuit of the control.
• Check if the right and left safety gear heads have engaged simultaneously.
• After the stop test, release the safety gear by driving the elevator car upwards. The engaging linkage and the
safety contact must return to their starting position.
• The procedure for the safety contact with the quick-break switch must be manually reset.
ATTENTION: during test runs and operation testing, no-one must stay in the elevator car.
7.2
OPERATION TESTING OF THE SAFETY GEAR BLOCKS
Considered that, after the assembly, tests and inspections of the correct functioning of the safety gear block must
be carried out according to the harmonized EN 81 rule, a test is executed in order to check the correct
assembly and the correct adjustment. After that, a visual inspection should be carried out, in order to verify that
no change, able to compromise the normal functioning of the elevator, has taken place: roller - sliding block -
surface of the guide rails - carrying structure.
