6.3 HTTPS

The HTTPS protocol is used for encryption and authentication between network camera and PC. Next to SSL
network encryption a certificate is needed to confirm the authenticity of the origin.
„Enable HTTPS secure connection": You choose between allowing an unsecure (http) and secure (HTTPS)
access or strict secure (HTTPS) access.
Creating and installing a certificate
„Create self-signed certificate automatically": Here you will use the predefined certificate which is located
within the network camera. No further settings are available.
„Create self-signed certificate manually": A new certificate is created. Further detailed information has to
be entered.
„Create certificate request and install": Here you can generate a certificate request, which can be passed
on to certification authority. You can also install a certificate, which has been approved from a certification
authority like VeriSign.
Notice: If you use a self generated certificate you might receive warnings from the browser.
Self generated certificates are always judged as unsecure, since no certificate of origin and no
verification of the certification authority is given.
