The pins sticking out of the pin index must fit into the bore on the cylinder valve. The
arrangement of these pins will vary depending upon the type of gas.
Connection by means of a threaded connection
The pressure regulator may be fitted with a threaded connection. In this case,
the connection screw takes the form of a hexagon nut with a right-handed or left-
handed thread. Nuts with left-handed threads are denoted by a groove all the way
around them.
Threaded connections with right-handed threads are made by rotating the
connection screw clockwise onto the cylinder valve.
Threaded connections with left-handed threads are made by rotating the connection
screw anticlockwise onto the cylinder valve.
Threaded connections may only tightened using an appropriate tool.
When making threaded connections, never use the pressure regulator, manometer
or outlet connection as a means of securing them.
The gasket may take the form of a profile gasket or flat sealing disc. When making
the connection, it is absolutely essential to check the gasket for evidence of
damage and soiling. If the gasket is damaged or soiled, the pressure regulator
must not be used and the gasket has to be replaced (see Section "Replacing
gaskets").
The threaded connection must be made on the cylinder valve so that it is hand-tight.
When you are doing this, align the pressure regulator as appropriate.
When tightening the hexagon nut, the hexagon or flat face on the connection piece
of the pressure regulator must be used to secure it.
