Commissioning

Prior to using the pressure regulator, briefly open and close the valve on the compressed
gas cylinder twice in well-ventilated rooms in order to flush the pressure regulator.
Do not aim the gas jet at anyone.
Please also observe the Section "Safety information for working with medical
gases".
Connect and start up downstream equipment. Please also follow the instructions for use
issued by the manufacturers of the downstream equipment you are using.
Medical gases and test gas mixtures are a medicinal product and may only be
administered under the supervision of qualified medical staff who are familiar
with the precautions for the respective application. The safety data sheets and
information provided by the gas manufacturers must be observed.
Open the valve on the compressed gas cylinder slowly. Open the handwheel on the
cylinder valve as far as it will go and then turn it back half a revolution. The cylinder
pressure will now be displayed on the inlet pressure gauge.
Pressure surges caused by opening the valve too quickly can cause explosions!
Take suitable precautions to ensure that gas from the patient is not able to get inside the
pressure regulator (backflow). Should this happen, the appliance must be sent back to
the manufacturer immediately for cleaning.
The temperature of the gas and the pressure regulator drops sharply during
operation. This can produce hypothermia in the patient.
The pressure in the connected compressed gas cylinder and the patient must be
monitored constantly during operation.
If no gas is being drawn: close the valve on the compressed gas cylinder. The
pressure regulator is not a shutoff valve.
5.3.1 Flow outlet
The following additional instructions apply when commissioning versions with flow
outlet.
Turn the handwheel on the flow outlet clockwise to "0".
Immediately before starting to treat the patient, all gas supply equipment (including
downstream equipment) must be flushed at max. gas volume flow. This will ensure
that any gas in the system is replaced. The flushing duration is determined by the
downstream equipment.
