Function

Pressurizing the cylinder chambers causes the pistons in the DRD/DRE to move
back and forth. Linear motion is converted into rotary motion by means of a rack
and pinion unit.
The screwed−on process valve absorbs the reaction torque of the DRD/DRE. This is
subject to the permissible torques è Technical specifications (also see specifica
tions in the catalogue at http://catalog.festo.com).

Application

The DRD/DRE is tailored completely to the requirements of the processing
industry. It is used for controlling media−flow process valves in systems. The
standard variant of the DRD/DRE is used for process valves that close in the
clockwise direction.
The drive is properly used for process valves with a range of movement limited
to 90°, such as ball cocks and shut−off valves (quarter turn actuators). With
DRD/DRE−...−O variant quarter turn actuators, the range of rotation is adjustable.
Use as a cushioning or shock absorbing element is not proper use. This may
result in excessive loads.

Transport and storage

Ensure storage conditions as follows: short storage periods in cool, dry,
