UNDERSTANDING THE CONTROLLER
This PID (proportional-integral-derivative) Controller is very much the same as the controls on your kitchen oven. The control
system with a touch screen that manages the feed rate of pellet fuel, the variable speed fan, and adjustable environment settings.
IMPORTANT: The temperature inside of any smoker will vary greatly from location to location. Even instruments calibrated
together may not agree with each other.
CONTROL
DESCRIPTION
Press and hold for three seconds to Power On the unit. This will begin the automatic start-up cycle. The button
will light up blue when connected to a power source and when the unit is on. Press and hold this button for three
seconds to Power-down the unit, activating the shut-down cycle.
The Controller Knob is used to navigate, increase, decrease, select, and set values. The Controller Knob can move
like a joystick or rotate to adjust values on the Main Screen. In sub-screens, rotate the wheel or use the joystick to
scroll through options. Push the Controller Knob to confirm the chosen value or selection. The selection will blink
blue where the Controller Knob is currently located until a selection is made. It will be highlighted white once the
selection is confirmed.
The button outside of the main panel controls the light for the side shelf. This can light can be used while the
smoker is plugged in and before the unit is turned on.

The Actual temperature is constantly displayed. The temperature readout is taken by the grill probe (sensor) from
the inside of the smoker barrel. Touch or move the Controller Knob over the temperature and rotate the knob to

adjust the Set Temperature. Press the Controller Knob or touch anywhere on the screen to confirm the selection.
The temperature range is 54-215°C/130-420°F, at 5°F increments.

The Set Temperature will be updated after the temperature is modified under the Actual Temperature.
Heating to
The Wi-Fi® icon indicates a connectivity with Wi-Fi®. When searching for a connection by Wi-Fi® or via Bluetooth®,
the Wi-Fi® icon will blink. Once a Wi-Fi® connection has been established, the Wi-Fi® icon will stay solid.
Plug-in the adapter end of a meat probe to a connection port. The Meat Probe readouts correspond with the
plug-in connection port selected (P1-left, P2-right). Compatible with Pit Boss® Grills branded meat probes only.
