CP Softener Series Owner's Manual
If a system is installed in a multi-story building were the drain runs below the lowest point of the tank or if there is a
chance of backflow, a vacuum breaker on the softener's inlet plumbing is recommended. Check local and state plumbing
codes for the proper setup of drain line air gaps.
Do not route softener drain line more than 8 feet vertically from the top of the softener or more than 30 feet in
total. On drain lines for the CP 213 & 216 that must travel more than 8 feet up and 30 feet over, it is best to take the
3/8" drain line that fits the valve and attach it in a larger diameter line or pipe. The CP 208 & 210 will use 1/2" drain
line. This will eliminate chances of restrictions. Running drain line higher than 10 feet will inhibit the ability of the
system to draw brine.
B.
Apply Teflon tape to both male threaded fittings on the side of the softener
control module.
C.
Locate the proper fittings in the installation kit and install them onto the male
threads.
D.
Insert the drain line into the drain fitting. Make sure it is seated fully. Hand
tighten fitting until snug then tighten 1 1/2 to 2 turns with a wrench to fully
seat. Do not over tighten. Leave the other fitting for now. You'll return to it later
during the installation process.
NOTE: Be sure to avoid kinks or obstructions, both of which will prevent the system
from operating properly.
