Connect Softening Tanks
VIII. Run the Drain Line
A. Now, you'll run the drain line from the softener to a discharge point using 5/8" white plastic tubing. Common
options include: running the drain line to a floor drain or stand pipe.
Connection to drain shall not
pierce or damage existing pipes.
Install an air gap fitting compliant
with ASME A112.1.3 between this
device and the drain connection.
Waste connections or drain outlets
shall be designed and constructed
to provide for connection to the
sanitary waste system through an
air gap of 2 pipe diameters or 1"
(25 mm), whichever is larger. For
drains that need to run below the
lowest point of the tank, an air gap
must be included to prevent a
vacuum.

Locate the two connector pipes with O-rings already attached, silicone lubricant,
connector pins and connector links.
B.
Now apply lubricant to the O-rings on the connector pipes, ensuring complete
coverage.
C.
Insert the connector pipes into the ports on the softener control module.
D.
Next, position the second softening tank and attach onto the connector pipes.
Be sure all connections are fully seated. Secure the connection using the links
and pins provided. Use both connector links and pins.
