V. Connect System
Option 1 - Prepare the Kinetico By-pass Valve (Item # 11351A sold separately)
NOTE: Each port on the by-pass valve carries a specific letter designation you'll use for identification.
E. Look on the underside of the handle and align the keyed area properly with the shaft. Push the handle until it snaps
into place.
A.
Determine which port on the by-pass valve will accept the raw water connection.
You can select either the A port or the B port.
B.
Next, determine which port on the by-pass valve will connect to the system inlet.
You can select either the C port or the D port.
C.
Turn the handle until the yellow by-pass indicator shows in the viewing window and
remove the handle by pulling it away from the valve body. Remove the handle.
D.
The by-pass valve allows you to choose from four installation configurations. To
configure your valve, first locate the blackout decal located in the installation
kit. You'll apply the decal to the indicator wheel based on the flow configuration
you've chosen to allow users to select the proper valve modes and black out
those they shouldn't use.
F.
Prepare the by-pass valve by first lubricating and installing all necessary o-rings
onto the adapter elbows. Next install the O-rings onto the by-pass valve itself.
G.
There are specific left and right elbows. Install the adapter elbows onto the by-
pass valve. Install the left elbow onto the D port. Install the right elbow onto the
C port. Install E-clips here.
H.
Insert the entire by-pass assembly into the softener.
I.
Insert the plumbing adapters into the by-pass valve. Dry fit connections in order to
determine the best place to cut into the plumbing to connect the in and out ports.
J.
Once measurements are taken, remove the adapters from the by-pass valve.
Move the softener away from the plumbing and remove the entire by-pass
assembly, first removing the E-clips. Do not sweat any plumbing with the by-pass
valve attached.
