TROUBLESHOOTING
Proper cleaning, maintenance and the use of clean, dry, quality fuel will prevent common operational problems. When your Vermont Castings grill is
operating poorly, or on a less frequent basis, the following troubleshooting tips may be helpful. For FAQ, please visit www.vermontcastingsbbq.com .

SOLUTION
Press the power button. Try another attempt and hold for two seconds to verify
connection.
Ensure unit is plugged into a working power source. Reset breaker. Ensure GFCI
is a minimum 10 amp service (see electric wire diagram for access to electric
components). Ensure all wire connections are firmly connected and dry.
Disconnect the grill from the power source and remove hopper access panel (see
electric wire diagram for diagram). Pull the controller out and then check the fuse
for a broken wire or if the wire has turned black. If yes, fuse needs to be manually
replaced.
Remove hopper access panel (see electric wire diagram for diagram), and ensure
all wire connections are firmly connected and dry. Ensure GFCI is a minimum 10
amp service.
Digital control centre needs to be replaced. Contact customer service for
replacement part.
Check burn grate for proper positioning. Follow care and maintenance for ash
build-up.
Turn the unit off by pressing the power button/turing the temperature knob to off.
Remove cooking components from the main barrel. Press the power button to
turn the unit on, and inspect the auger feed system. Visually confirm that the auger
is dropping pellets into the burn grate. If not operating properly, call customer
service for assistance.
Turn the unit off by pressing the power button/turing the temperature knob to
off. Remove cooking components from the main barrel. Press the power button
to turn the unit on and inspect the igniter. Confirm that the igniter is working by
placing your hand above the burn grate and feeling for heat. Visually confirm that
the igniter is aligned with the hole in the burn grate, and open to light the pellets. If
not operating properly, follow manual start-up procedure to continue use of grill;
however, call customer service for assistance or a replacement part.
Igniter needs to be replaced. Contact customer service for replacement part.

Grill probe needs to be replaced. Contact customer service.
Turn the temperature control dial to off position, then long press the prime button
to access ºC / ºF. Now press the prime button to select the desired unit and leave it
undisturbed for 5 sec to confirm and save it.
Attempt cooking at a lower temperature. Grease does have a flash point. Keep the
temperature under 180°C / 350°F when cooking highly greasy food.
Follow care and maintenance instructions.
Close the flame broiler for indirect flame cooking.
This feature does not harm the unit. The interior temperature of the grill has
reached or gone over 54°C / 130°F, and it is self-cooling. To reduce inside
temperature, open grill lid or unplug from power source and move unit to a shaded
area.
