f) Installing the drive motor and the speed controller
Depending on the motor (accessory), attach it to the motor mounting plate (1)
of the model plane.
Solder suitable connectors (4) to the speed controller (2) and the drive motor
(3) so that the motor can be disconnected from the speed controller if necessary.
The power cable of the speed controller has to be equipped with a connector
compatible with the flight battery. We recommend high-power 4-mm gold contact
plugs.
When the motor is completely installed, attach a suitable airscrew (5) to the
motor. Observe the respective instructions.
Test the motor and the speed controller using the remote control. In this respect,
also see the information in section "Testing the motor".
If the rotational direction of the motor is not correct, swap any two
of the three connections.
Aerodynamics require the carrier plate to be installed slanted and the motor to exhibit a side-pull to the right. This is intentional and no manufacturing
error!
Practical tip:
Secure the three motor connection cables using a cable tie so that they are not worn out by the rotating engine housing.
g) Installing the landing gear
Slightly roughen the carrier plate (1) of the ready-to-install two-leg landing gear
(fig. 1b, pos. 8) and glue the landing gear to the designated slot in the bottom of
the fuselage (fig. 8a) using 5-minute epoxy glue.
After the glue has hardened, use cable ties or similar (fig. 8b) to attach the
landing gear spats (fig. 1b, pos. 2) to the two-leg landing gear.
