Product Specific Safety Rules
• Hold tool by insulating gripping surfaces when performing an operation where the cutting tool or fasteners may contact hidden wiring.
Cutting tool or fasteners contacting a "live" wire may make exposed metal parts of the power tool "live" and could give the operator an electric shock.
• Socket mounting of accessories must match the chuck of Tire Buffer. Accessories that do not match the mounting hardware of the power tool
will run out of balance, vibrate excessively and may cause loss of control.
• Use only the accessories listed in the manual (one buffing, one small reamer bit, and one large reamer bit). Loss of control can cause personal injury.
• When a suspension device is used, ensure that it is securely fastened. Failure to secure may result in loss of control, unexpected motion, or
dropping of the tool.
• Keep clear of pinch point between reaction bar or support handles and any fixed object in work area. Pinching or other injury may occur.
• Keep body stance balanced and firm. Do not overreach when operating this tool. Anticipate and be alert for sudden changes in motion,
reaction torques, or forces during start up and operation. The operator should change posture during extended tasks, which can help avoid
discomfort and fatigue.
• Appropriate controls to reduce the risk from noise hazards may include actions such as damping materials to prevent workpieces from
"ringing".
• Do not convert this power tool to operate in a way which is not specifically designed and specified by the tool manufacturer. Such a
conversion may result in a loss of control and cause serious personal injury.
Product Specific Safety Rules (Tire Buffer Only)
• Operation such as drilling is not recommended to be performed with tools that function as a buffer. Operations for which the power tool
was not designed may create a hazard and cause personal injury.
• Ensure work pieces are secure. Use clamps or vises to hold work piece whenever possible.
• Failure of the workpiece, the rotating parts of the tool or accessory, or debris from the material being worked, can generate
high-velocity projectiles.
• Before starting this tool and during operation, the operator shall pay attention that no bystanders are in the vicinity.
• After installing an accessory, make certain no one is in front of or in line with the rotating accessory. Be aware that it may fail at this time if
it is defective, improperly mounted or the wrong size and speed. Stop immediately if considerable vibration or other defects are detected. Shut off
the power tool and determine the cause.
• Do not use this tool if the actual free speed exceeds the rated rpm. Check the free speed of the tool before installing an accessory, after all tool
repairs, before each job and after every 8 hours of use. Check speed with a calibrated tachometer, without any accessory installed.
• Do not use any accessory whose maximum operating speed, as defined by its manufacturer, is less than the rated speed of the tool.
• Ensure that the accessory is correctly mounted and tightened before use.
• To prevent excessive overhang, the shaft of the accessory shall be inserted to the full depth of the gripping jaws of the collet and the
resulting overhung length shall be no greater than the inserted depth.
• Inspect collet, threads and nut for damage & wear prior to mounting accessory. Thread-on collets shall be securely seated against the
driving member.
Dust and fume hazards
• Wear appropriate respiratory protection if dust or fumes are present in the work area.
• Dust and fumes generated when using power tools, and existing dust disturbed by their use, can cause ill health (for example, cancer,
birth defects, asthma and/or dermatitis). Risk assessment and implementation of appropriate controls for these hazards are essential.
The priority shall be to control them at the source.
• Direct the exhaust so as to minimize disturbance of dust in a dust-filled environment.
• All integral features or accessories for the collection, extraction or suppression of airborne dust of fumes should be correctly used and
maintained in accordance with the manufacturer's instruction.
• Do not use this tool on materials whose dust or fumes are flammable or that can cause a potentially explosive environment.
• Accessories should be selected, inspected, properly installed, maintained and replaced when worn to prevent an unnecessary increase
in dust of fumes.
Accessory hazards
• Ensure that the accessory is correctly mounted and tightened before use.
• Use only sizes and types of accessories that are recommended by the tool manufacturer; do not use other types or sizes of accessories.
• Inspect all accessories prior to mounting. Do not use an accessory that is chipped, cracked, non-concentric, excessively worn or otherwise
damaged.
• Do not use a accessory that has been exposed to freezing temperatures, extreme temperature changes, high humidity, solvents, water or other
liquids.
• Make certain the accessory properly fits the shaft. The accessory should not fit too snugly or too loosely. Do not use reducing bushings to adapt
an accessory to any shaft unless such bushings are supplied by and recommended by the accessory manufacturer.
• When accessories are supplied with reducing bushings, the user shall ensure that the bushing does not interfere and that the clamping force
provides sufficient rotational driving action to prevent the accessory from slipping.
• Always match collet size with accessory shaft size.
• Do not use grinding or cut-off wheels with a rotary Die Grinder and Tire Buffer.
• Accessory manufacturers' safety precautions and warnings, operating restrictions, and installation or mounting instructions shall be followed, unless
it contradicts information provided in this manual or other literature provided with the tool. For contradictory information follow whichever is the
most restrictive guideline.
