YOUR ELEMENT 2
The Element 2 is a wing that inspires confidence.
Our aim whilst designing the Element 2, was to produce a school
wing that has Ozone's trademark handling and the highest levels of
safety. The R&D team have worked hard to create a stable, forgiving
wing that is perfect for a student pilot's first flights and all the way
through to their first thermals and even XC's. The rock solid stabili-
ty, collapse resistance and long brake range gives the pilot confidence
and the instructor peace of mind.
On the ground the Element 2 is superb. Forward and reverse
launches are simple, the wing has very little tendency to over shoot
or sit back behind the pilot. The inflation is smooth and progressive
with a positive pressure in the risers throughout making it easy to
feel exactly where the glider is at all times.
In the air the Element 2 is a joy to fly, brake pressure is progressive,
building continuously as more brake is applied and becoming harder
as the stall / spin point is reached. The brake range is long, minimis-
ing the likelyhood of accidental stalls, whilst still retaining positive
handling and landing characteristics. The Element 2 has a large use-
able speed range, at full speed the leading edge remains solid, even in
turbulence. It is well damped in pitch, this helps it cut through turbu-
lence efficiently making it very resistant to deflations and improving
the re-inflation characteristics.
The Element 2 is suitable for beginner and low airtime pilots who are
learning and discovering this wonderful sport. The Element 2 has
everything you need to help your flying progress to higher levels, it
is a wing that will take you confidently all the way to cloudbase and
beyond.
Rucksac
The bag has been especially designed for the Element 2. It is light in
weight, comfortable and useful (padded hip belt, ergonomic and ad-
justable shoulder straps). It has a large volume that will allow you to
store all your kit, whilst still being comfortable for hiking. We've also
added some pockets on the side and on the top, handy for all those
easily lost accessories.
Brake Lines
The brake line lengths have been set carefully during testing. We feel
it is better to have slightly long brake lines and to fly with a wrap
(one turn of line around the hand). However, if you do choose to ad-
just them, please bear in mind the following:
Ensure both main brake lines are of equal length.
If a brake handle has been removed, check that its line is still
routed through the pulley when it is replaced.
When the brake handles are released in flight, the brake lines
should be slack. There must be a substantial "bow" in them to
guarantee no deformation of the trailing edge.
There must be a minimum of 10cm of free play before the brakes
begin to deform the trailing edge. This prevents the trailing edge
from being deformed when using the speed system.
IMPORTANT: In the unlikely event of a brake line snapping
in flight, or a handle becoming detached, the glider can be
flown by gently pulling the rear risers (C-risers) for direc-
tional control.
Risers
The Element 2 has been designed with 3 risers. The A riser is cov-
ered with coloured webbing, this allows it to be easily identified.
The A's are Grey. You will notice that the A's are split into two risers.
The small riser at the back, holding only one line (outermost A line) is
the 'Baby A', it has been designed to make applying big ears simple.
The B's and C's are BLACK.
