System Maintenance
Maintenance may be performed by the end-user or by Sartorius Stedim
Biotech. Contact the Sartorius Stedim Biotech Service Department to
establish a Preventive Maintenance Contract.
In the event of a problem, first check the error code section of the
Huber Unistat 705 Operating Instructions. If you are unable to remedy
the situation, call Customer Service (see page 45).
7.1
Cleaning
Exposed equipment surfaces are generally compatible with spray and wipe
with isopropyl alcohol. Stainless steel surfaces may optionally be cleaned
with stainless steel polish.
The internal cabinet of the S
aluminum which is incompatible with basic solutions such as sodium
hydroxide (NaOH) or oxidizers. These materials should not be used for
cleaning the internal cabinet. Rather, isopropyl alcohol or other non
oxidizing cleaning solutions are recommended if cleaning is necessary.
7.2
Changing the Heat Transfer Fluid
Change the heat transfer fluid if it becomes visibly contaminated with water
or particulate, or if you notice a decline in heat transfer efficiency (i.e. when
the unit does not reach or maintain set point temperature). Always change
out the entire amount of HTF. If there is no improvement in heat transfer
efficiency after changing the HTF, call Customer Service (see page 45).
To change the HTF, use the following procedure:
Verify that the system HTF drain valve located on the front of the unit is
t
closed. The slot in the screw cap is vertically aligned when closed. See
„Fig. 10: Cryopilot A HTF Drain Valve and Sealing Screws", page 18.
Remove the sealing screw in the protruding stainless tube on the left
t
side of the unit and connect a piece of flexible tubing over the end of
tube. Attach securely with a hose clamp.
Put the far end of the tubing in a container that will hold at least 12 L
t
(3 gallons) of HTF.
Open the HTF drain valve by turning counter-clockwise until the slot is
t
horizontally aligned.
If possible, attempt to lift Cryowedge or S
t
from the application module back down into the Cryopilot A.
When HTF stops flowing, close the HTF drain valve, remove the tubing
t
from the sealing screw tube, and replace the sealing screw.
Fill the Cryopilot A system with new HTF according to the procedure in
t
Chapter „4.7 Heat Transfer Fluid Fill", page 17.
