In addition to the error and warning bit, transmission over
the BiSS interface is protected by a CRC. The status bits
are set according to the status (see Section 5.2 on

Preset input signal

The beginning of the magnetic tape does not represent the
measured position 0, but rather the zero point can be at
any desired position within or outside of the magnetic tape.
Crossing the zero point causes a position jump (overrun)
and the error bit is set. Therefore the appropriate
measuring range should be set before operating.
To set the measuring range the sensor head must be
moved to the start of the measuring range. The Preset
connection is connected to the power source for at least
20 ms. The current position is set to 10 mm ±1 mm.

The Preset connection is useful only for roughly setting the
start position. To set the position with greater accuracy the
Configuration Tool (see Section 9.5 on page 23) must be
used.
