TIPS, TRICKS & TROUBLESHOOTING
Can a handheld tack light be used
with the Radica Provisional?
Cannot remove the cured provisional
from the model.
Gray streaks/discoloration in the
completed restoration.
Voids or porosity in my cured resin.
Shades are off.
Cannot express the resin from the
syringe.
Final provisional did not appear to
have the proper strength.
Surface of the provisional is rough
after curing.
Surface has lost its detail.
Observed blue tint on restoration due
to Matrix Putty.
What is the best choice of Reline
Material?
• Yes – but only to "tack" the resin into position. You still
must follow with a full curing cycle.
• Did not use enough model separator.
• Undercuts on the model.
• Sealer was overlapped onto the model during
application.
• Used an electric wax pencil with tips that were not nickel
or chrome coated.
• Used a warm instrument from an external heat source.
• Air was trapped in the resin when expressing the resin
into the silicone matrix.
• Surface was not properly prepared prior to doing an
add-on procedure.
• Too much or too little enamel used in relation to the
dentin.
• Used the wrong enamel.
• Used excess effect dentin.
• Improper positioning of the model in the curing unit when
curing (Triad 2000 only).
• Did not use an approved curing unit.
• Dentist used the wrong reline resin.
• The syringe was not in the syringe warmer long enough.
• The syringe was not fully inserted in the syringe warmer.
• The tip of the syringe was left off and the material poly-
merized.
• Did not use the correct curing cycle.
• Did not use the recommended curing unit(s).
• Did not use the recommended connector size.
• Improper positioning of the model in the curing unit.
• Walls of the restoration are too thin.
• Did not use enough separator on model.
• VLC sealer started to cure prior to applying to the
surface.
• Surface not smooth prior to the sealer/glaze application.
• Application brush was contaminated.
• Continued brush strokes after the sealer started to dry.
• VLC Sealer was applied too thick.
• Insufficient mixing of base/catalyst.
• Choice of reline material and cement will affect
longevity. Best results are also obtained with frequent
recalls and supervision through the treatment sequence.
• Best results are also obtained with more Radica and less
reline. Preferably all Radica.
