IMPORTANT INFORMATION
7. Resistance to hail
The glass vacuum tubes are surprisingly strong and capable of resisting high impact when installed. The tests and models of ten-
sion caused by impact show that these tubes can resist the impact of hailstones up to 25 mm (1") in diameter if installed at an angle
of 40º or more. The shock resistance capacity of the vacuum tubes increases as the angle of impact increases so if collectors are
installed at low angles, their shock resistance is reduced. However, even if they are laid flat, they will not break if hit by hailstones
measuring 20 mm (3/4").
In areas where large-sized hailstones (> 20 mm or _") are frequent, we recommend installing the solar panel at an angle of 40º or
more for maximum protection. Because many of the most densely-populated areas of the planet are between latitudes + 30-70º,
this is a normal angle of installations in any case.
In the unlikely case of tube breakage, it only takes a few minutes to change it. The solar panel can continue to work correctly even
with one or more tubes broken, but the production of heat will fall (depending on how many tubes are broken).
8. Design and installation of the system
Please read the installation instructions carefully before designing the
system and installing it. You may have to adapt the configuration to
the specific requirements of its location. Ensure that the design com-
plies with current construction and water-quality regulations.
