INSTALLATION MANUAL
CAA480A
Elevator Controller
14] INVERTING THE FLOOR CONTROL RELAYS
(PWR OFF/ON DIP SWITCH - DEFAULT: "OFF")
The PWR OFF/ON DIP switch is used to invert the normal state of the CAA480A's floor
control relays. This DIP switch is designed to be used with the Fail-Safe connection
method (page 8). This is important when integrating Emergency Control with the
CAA480A. With the floor control relay connected using normally closed contacts, setting
the PWR OFF/ON DIP switch to ON will open the relay. During normal operation, a user
presents their card and pushes the desired elevator floor button which momentarily closes
the relay and allows access to the selected floor. During an emergency, if the CAA480A
were to lose power, the relay will revert back to its normal state (normally closed).
As a result, power can still be supplied to the elevator's floor buttons and allows
the elevator to remain accessible.
For more information on Emergency Control see below.
Figure 16: PWR OFF/ON DIP switch:
Putting the PWR OFF/ON DIP switch in
the ON position will invert the normal
state of the CAA480A's elevator control
relays.
15] EMERGENCY CONTROL
The CAA480A offers the ability to control the floor control relays in the case of an
emergency. By wiring the floor control relays using the Fail-Safe method and the
CAA480A to the building's or elevator car's emergency control system, the elevator can
still be accessed during an incident.
WIRING THE CAA480A'S EMERGENCY CONTROL INPUT
It is very important that a trained and registered elevator service company connect any wiring
!
!
associated with any components of the elevator system, this includes the wiring of the CAA480A's
Emergency Control input. If connecting the CAA480A to the building's emergency control system,
consult with the building's technicians.
In order for the CAA480A's emergency control input to be enabled, the Emergency Control
(FC) Override jumper (page 13) must be in the "OFF" position.
Make sure that the CAA480A's floor control relays have been wired using the Fail-Safe
method (page 8) and that the PWR OFF/ON (see page 18) DIP switch has been set
in the "ON" position. Wire the building's or elevator car's emergency control system
to the CAA480A's Emergency Control Input as shown in Figure 17.
