Discotom-2
Instruction Manual
In order to be able to keep the feed-speed adjustment unchanged
during several cuttings, however, the operator should be aware of
the counter pressure in the cylinder which prevents the free
movement of the cut-off wheel.
At low feed-speeds it may be difficult to bring the cut-off wheel
forward manually and at very low feed-speeds the counter pressure
will always move the cut-off wheel back to its rearmost position.
When a series of cuts has been completed, AUTOMATIC / STOP /
MANUAL should be set to STOP / MANUAL to depressurise the oil
pressure cylinder. With this control in the STOP / MANUAL position it
is also possible to perform cutting of particularly difficult specimens
without using Autofeed.
When Discotom is used manually the feed-speed valve must be set
on maximum speed, i.e. be completely open. Thus, the cut-off wheel
can very easily be moved and placed in any position.
Autofeed should be replenished with oil when the level in the oil
reservoir falls approx. 45 mm below the plate in the reservoir.
Oil is poured into the reservoir as described in section 11.3. Use
ordinary hydraulic oil, such as Shell Tellus S46 or Esso Nuto H44.
The suspension joints of the cylinder should be given a drop of oil
occasionally.
