4.3 Hood transition
Discharge direction
The hood can only be mounted with a vertical discharge.
The exhaust air should be discharged through ducting and
directed to the outside of the building.
Attaching the hood transition
Your hood is supplied with a 10" (254 mm) round
transition. A locally supplied transition is required for other
sizes.
Align the mounting holes at the base of the transition

over the mounting holes of the ½" (13 mm) flange
located at the top of the hood.
Fasten the transition to the hood using four (4) ¼"

(6 mm) sheet metal screws included with the hood.
Note: Make sure the screws do not hinder the damper
operation.
Seal the connection between transition and hood with

aluminum tape. DO NOT use duct tape. Ensure that the
connection is completely sealed.
Remove the tape that is holding the damper closed.

WARNING
Before installing, turn power OFF at the service panel.
Lock service panel to prevent power from being turned

ON accidentally.
5.1 Ceiling cutout
Note: A minimum 10" (254 mm) opening in the ceiling is
required to accommodate the ductwork necessary for
proper ventilation.
Ensure that no cables or pipes become damaged (e.g.

electric, gas, water).
On the ceiling, mark the center line of the appliance.

Mark the center line for the location of the four (4)

mounting holes using dimensions shown in the
illustration below. The holes must be drilled into a
structure capable to support a minimum 150 lbs load.
Tip: Use the frame as a template to mark the mounting
support locations.
Use a 1¼'' drill bit to create a hole for the electrical

power supply. Depending on the ceiling height, ensure
the required minimum power cord length.
