IR TRANSCEIVER
B206
4.1
GENERAL
Infrared
rays
propagate
in a straight
Line
Like
visible
Light.
This means
that
IR remote
control
is only effective
where
a direct
Line of sight exists.
In all other
situa-
tions
the problem
can
be overcome
by means
of a REVOX
8206
IR
transceiver
(transceiver
= short
for
transmitter/re-
ceiver).
This
"extended
arm"
is part
of a universal
remote
control
system
that
is suited
not
only
for
unfavorable
reom
conditions
but
atso
for
controlling
from
remote
rooms.
The system
comprises
the
following
components:
w IR
remote
control
REVOX
B201,
REVOX
B201CD,
or
REVOX
B205
a IR transceiver
REVOX
B206
e IR transmitter
adapter
for connection
to 8206
a Mains
adapter
for supplying
power
to the B206;
6
VDC
(newer
models
9 VDC)
+5%,
min.
50 mA,
any
polarity.
(Available
from
specialized
trade)
This
transceiver
is able
to control
all
IR remotable
REVOX
units
(refer
to 2.1.3
or remote
control
operating
in-
structions).
4.1.1
Start-up
Use as a relay
station:
1.
By means
of the bypacked
mounting
hardware
install
the
IR
transmitter
in
the desired
Location
from
which
there
is
a direct
line of sight
to
the
remote-con-
trolled
equipment.
Run the cable
to the B206
in
the
ancillary
room.
(Maximum
cable
Length
5 m; cable
capa-
citance
max.
90 pF/m).
2.
Programming
for operation
as an IR transceiver:
Set
jumper
under
the cover
in the housing
bottom
to
position
"T".
3.
Connect
the
6-pin
connector
of the
IR
transmitter
adapter
to the
corresponding
socket
of the 8206.
Plug
connector
of mains
adapter
into B206.
4.
Now
connect
the mains
adapter
to the AC source.
Use as a remote
IR receiver:
The
B206
can
also
be connected
directly
to one
or
several
REVOX
units
of the
system.
In this
case
the
IR transmitter
adapter
is not
needed.
In this
application
the B206
can be
supplied
by one
of the
REVOX
units
equipped
with
a SERIAL
LINK
(B215,
B225,
B226,
B285/B286).
1.
Connect
balanced,
screened
microphone
cable
between
B206
and hi-fi
system.
Max.
cable
Length
40 m;

3.
Program B206
for operation
as an IR receiver:
set the
jumper
under
"R"
position.

ceivers
as well
as several

units
can
be connected
in

must
be
executed
very
carefully
and
