Unpacking Your Tool
• Carefully unpack and inspect your tool. Familiarise yourself with all its features and functions.
• Ensure that all parts of the tool are present and in good condition. If any parts are missing or
damaged, have such parts replaced before attempting to use this tool.
Before Use
WARNING: Always disconnect the tool from the air supply before adjustment or maintenance
is carried out.
Fitting the quick connector
Note: This tool is supplied with two different male airline Quick Connectors (9) (Fig. I):
EQ-4 – commonly used in Europe
EN-6 – mainly used in the UK
• Please choose the connector that is compatible with the airline system you are using, and install
as outlined below:
1. Apply some PTFE tape (not included) to the screw threads of the Quick Connector. This will help to
maintain an airtight seal.
Note: Apply PTFE tape tightly and in a clockwise direction, so it does not come off when the thread
is screwed into the tool.
2. Remove the protective plug from the Air Inlet (3).
3. Using a spanner (not included) screw the Quick Connector into the Air Inlet located at the base of
the handle.
4. Connect to airline, pressurise carefully and carry out a leak check (e.g. by spraying small amounts
of soapy water on to the outside of the connectors).
• Air lines fitted with matching female Quick Connectors will now be a push fit to the tool.
Recommended air supply
• This tool should be connected to a clean, dry air supply with inline oiler and water separator.
• Do not allow supply pressure to exceed the maximum stated (see 'Specification').
• Ensure that water is drained from air system daily.
• Ensure that all parts of the system (hoses, couplers, etc.) are correctly rated for the air pressure
to be used.
Checking the safety catch
WARNING: Always disconnect the tool from the air supply before any adjustment or
maintenance is carried out.
• Ensure that there are no fasteners in the magazine.
• The Safety Catch (6) should move in and out with no obstruction.
• Test the Safety Catch is operating correctly as follows:
1. Connect the tool to the air supply.
2. Push the Safety Catch against a piece of wood without pulling the Trigger (2). The tool should not
fire. If the tool fires, it must be repaired before further use.
3. Hold the tool away from the piece of wood. The Safety Catch should return to the original
position.
4. Pull the Trigger. The tool should not fire. If the tool fires, it must be repaired before any further use.
5. Push the Safety Catch against the piece of wood, but this time pull the Trigger. The tool should
fire. This indicates normal operation.
Loading the magazine
WARNING: Always disconnect the tool from the air supply before any loading, adjustment, or
maintenance is carried out.
WARNING: Only use compatible fasteners as specified in 'Specification' .
1. Press the Magazine Latch (4) and slide the Magazine Cover (5) open.
2. Insert fasteners into the magazine, ensuring the point of the fastener is facing forward (away
from the handle of the tool).
• To load with staples, place the strip of staples over the cartridge guide, as shown in Fig. II.
• To load with nails, place the strip of nails alongside the cartridge guide, as shown in Fig. III.
3. Close the Magazine Cover until the Magazine Latch is fully secured.
IMPORTANT: Always test the fastener will penetrate by the correct amount. Using a similar material
fire a test fastener and, if necessary, use the Depth Adjuster (8) as described below in 'Fastener depth
adjustment' to adjust the fastener depth to the desired level.
Operation
WARNING: ALWAYS wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including eye protection,
when working with this tool.
WARNING: Ensure your compressed air supply operates within the pressure range stated in
'Specification' .

Firing the trigger
• To operate the nailer, press the Safety Catch (6) against the material. Holding the nailer firmly by
its handle, squeeze the Trigger (2) to fire the fastener into the material.
IMPORTANT: Rapidly pressing the firing trigger could cause internal damage and may invalidate
the guarantee.
Adjusting the exhaust
• The Air Exhaust (1) can be rotated to direct the flow of the exhaust gases.
• The Air Exhaust should be positioned to direct the flow of exhaust gases away from the operator.
Fastener depth adjustment
WARNING: Be aware of the thickness of your workpiece when driving in fasteners. A protruding
nail or staple may cause injury.
IMPORTANT: Always test the fastener will penetrate by the correct amount.
1. Fire a test fastener into a piece of scrap material and examine the penetration depth of the
fastener.
2. Turn the Depth Adjuster (8) backwards towards the body of the tool to increase the driving depth.
3. To decrease the driving depth, turn the Depth Adjuster in the direction away from the tool body.
• If the Depth Adjuster is set to its lowest setting, the driving depth can be further decreased by
adjusting the air pressure to the desired level. Reducing the pressure will reduce the depth that
the fastener penetrates.
WARNING: To prevent firing unintentionally, never pull back the Safety Catch (6) with the air
supply connected.
Clearing jams
WARNING: Always disconnect the tool from the air supply before any adjustment or
maintenance is carried out.
Fastener jammed in magazine
1. Press the Magazine Latch (4) and slide the Magazine Cover (5) open.
2. Remove the obstruction using pliers.
3. Reload the magazine and close securely.
Fastener jammed in plate area
1. Undo the three Hex Screws (7) and remove the nose cover.
2. Remove the Safety Catch (6) and the pressure plate located underneath it.
3. Remove the obstruction using pliers.
4. Re-assemble and check the operation of the Safety Catch before using the tool.
Maintenance
WARNING: Always disconnect the machine from the air supply before carrying out any
maintenance or cleaning.
Note: Two Hex Keys (10) are provided with this air nailer stapler that are suitable for partial
disassembly of this unit. These may be useful for cleaning, unjamming and replacing parts. Such
disassembly is not covered by this manual.
WARNING: Never use third party spares with this product. Only use spares supplied by
Silverline or an authorised Silverline stockist or repair centre.
Cleaning
• Keep your tool clean at all times. Dirt and dust will cause internal parts to wear quickly, and
shorten the machine's service life. Clean the body of your machine with a soft brush, or dry cloth.
IMPORTANT: There is very little that can go wrong with your air tool and it should be noted that
when an air tool fails to work it is generally because the internal workings have corroded due to
dirty, wet air and failure to follow the instructions given below.
Daily maintenance procedure
If an inline lubricator is not fitted to the air supply, the tool must be manually lubricated:
1. Disconnect from the air supply and remove any fasteners.
2. Pour 3-4 drops of oil into the air intake.
3. Reconnect the air supply and operate the machine several times to lubricate all internal
workings.
• If the machine is in constant use or used for long periods at a time, repeat the above procedure
up to 3 times per day.
• Use air tool oil. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES USE NORMAL ENGINE OIL.
• Failure to comply with the operating and maintenance instructions may invalidate the guarantee.
