Hints for storage of frozen food
To obtain the best performance from this appliance, you should:
make sure that the commercially frozen foodstuffs were adequately stored by the
retailer;
be sure that frozen foodstuffs are transferred from the food store to the freezer in the
shortest possible time;
not open the door frequently or leave it open longer than absolutely necessary.
Once defrosted, food deteriorates rapidly and cannot be refrozen.
Do not exceed the storage period indicated by the food manufacture.
Maintenance and Cleaning
Defrosting the freezer
The freezer compartment has to be defrosted manually. When the thickness of frost or ice on
the shelves exceeds 5cm, the freezer should be defrosted. A few hours before defrosting, set
the temperature to SUPER in order to further lower the temperature of the frozen foods.
To start the defrost process:
1. Remove frozen food from the freezer and place it in a cooler to protect the food.
2. Unplug the unit. Defrosting usually takes a few hours. To defrost faster keep the freezer
door open.
3. For draining, place a tray beneath the outer drain plug. Unscrew and remove drain plug.
This will let the water flow out in the tray. When done, screw on the drain plug in place.
Note: monitor the container under the drain to avoid overflow.
4. When draining is complete, wipe the interior of the freezer with a soft cloth. Plug in
power cord back into the electrical outlet.
5. Reset the temperature control to the desired setting.
6. Return the food into the freezer.
Important Notes:
Do not use pointed or sharp-edged objects such as knives or forks to remove the frost.
Never use hairdryers, electrical heaters or other such electrical appliances for
defrosting.
Cleaning
Before cleaning, disconnect the plug from the electrical mains. Clean the outside using
only water and a gentle liquid detergent or an ordinary detergent for washable surfaces
(such as a window-cleaning product). Never use products containing abrasives or
substances which may attack the lacquered or painted parts, acids or chemical solvents.
Use a sponge or a soft cloth.
