7. Installation and Commissioning

We recommend that you perform a function test before firmly installing the weather protecting casing and
the outdoor unit.
Otherwise, the outdoor unit may be installed too high or too low or the camera's viewing angle may be
placed unsuitably.
When installing the outdoor unit and when operating the indoor unit later, keep enough distance to other
devices with a transmission frequency of 2.4 GHz, e.g. other wireless cameras, WLAN or Bluetooth
devices.
They may have a negative effect on the range or the transferred image and sound signal of the outdoor
unit or the indoor unit.
Never plate the indoor unit next to a computer with WLAN.
The range between outdoor unit and indoor unit is up to 200 m in a free range. This is the range available
without any interfering influences like walls, metal parts, etc.
In practical operation, this (theoretic) range is sometimes strongly reduced by walls, masonry, metal parts,
cables, electrical devices, etc. Usually, however, any operation in a common family home is possible
without any problems.
Also see chapter "Range".
a) Installing the Outdoor Unit
• First remove the weather protection casing.
• To place the cables to the outdoor unit (power supply or door opener), empty plastic conduits have proven useful.
Cables in brick walls are difficult to reach in case of errors!
• Attach the weather protection case in a suitable place to the left or right of the entrance door. The installation height
depends on the present conditions. However, the camera should be at a height of approx. 1.60 m.
• Four suitable screws and possibly dowels should be used for attachment.
When drilling or tightening screws, ensure that no wires or lines are damaged.
• There is a small cover with 3 screws on the back of the outdoor unit. Remove it. Below it, there are the terminals
clamps for power supply and door opener.
If you remove the entire cover on the back (2 screws each on the top and bottom), a battery compartment
(11) for 6 batteries type AA/Mignon may become visible below that may be used as support batteries in
case of power outage (no more than 6 hours).
In combination with the included interior unit, however, it is not required to insert batteries.
The reason is that the indoor unit is non-functional as well in case of power outage. Only the camera and
microphone work in battery operation (the door opener is not functional then).
Important: Therefore, do not put any batteries (or rechargeable batteries) in the outdoor unit, but
use the included mains adapter only to operate the outdoor unit.
