7.3
LIGHTING FOR THE FIRST TIME
It is recommended to carry out all the manual operations using the glove supplied.
The first lighting (after the installation or at the beginning of the season) must be made with reduced loads (~ 2 kg/h) keeping
the device on for at least 4 hours at low rate. Proceed with these feed rates for at least three days before using the appliance
at its full capacity. This will allow for the evaporation of any moisture accumulated in the refractory elements when not used.
During the first lighting of the fireplace it is possible that unpleasant odours or smoke caused by evaporation or drying of
some materials used may be generated. This phenomenon will gradually disappear.
During the first lightings, we recommend that you keep the premises well ventilated.
7.3.1
IGNITION
The stove should preferably be fed with well seasoned beech wood, sized 25, 33 cm.
The maximum humidity must be 25%.
Each type of wood has different characteristics that also affect the combustion efficiency.
It is strictly forbidden to use any type of coal, wood treated with protective substances, cardboard and paper (use to light
the fire only).
• Open the sliding door using the suitable glove (Fig.11);
• using the cold handle supplied (M) open the primary air adjustment all the way (+) (Fig. 12);
• carefully place the pieces of wood in the combustion chamber;
• place a natural fire-igniter on the pile of wood;
• add thin crossed sticks on top;
• light the fire-igniter from above;
• close the door and make sure it is closed properly;
• keep the air intake open to ensure a high and bright flame;
• reduce the opening of the air inlet using the appropriate cold hand, only when a good basis of embers has
formed.
7.4
FUEL CHARGING
During operation, to perform the refill of the fuel it is necessary to follow the following procedure:
• Slowly open the fire door in order to avoid creating an air depression in the firebox, which would cause an
almost certain release of smoke into the room (depending on the chimney draft).
• Recharge the stove with fuel and then close the fire door.
Avoid overheating the fireplace by introducing excessive amounts of fuel.
Introduce fuel when the embers have formed and the flame has lowered.
The stove is equipped with a bypass valve, which, when opened, facilitates the escape of smoke in the flue minimizing the
puffs of smoke in the environment.
7.4.1
COMBUSTION CONTROL
Combustion is regulated by inserting the cold handle supplied in the adjustment lever situated at the base of the door (Fig. 12).
Turn it clockwise (-) or counter-clockwise (+) to have a greater flow of combustion air corresponding to a greater combustion
flame
Turn the adjustment lever toward the + symbol to obtain faster combustion; turn it towards the - symbol to obtain slower
combustion; select the desired position (Pos. 1-2-3)
Positions 1-2-3 correspond to the certified power values.
The fireplace is not suitable for a continual fire use.
Check on the "product booklet" annexed, any specific characteristics of the model".
Never use alcohol, petrol, kerosene or other liquid fuels to light the fire. Keep these substances away from the fire. Do not
use petrol or chemical origin fire-lighters as they can seriously damage the walls of the firebox .
Only use ecological fire lighting aids.
During the operation, any flammable materials must be placed at least 180 cm from the front area.
DURING THE OPERATION DO NOT TOUCH ANY PART OF THE CHIMNEY TO AVOID BEING BURNT.
