4.3- Controls and features
Engine power switch (2)
• The engine power switch controls the ignition system.
• OFF position: Stops the engine.
• ON position: Runs the engine after starting.
• START position (for PRGE5501 only): Starts the engine by turning the starter motor. Turn
the key to ON position once the engine has started.
• If the engine failed to start, return the key to OFF position and wait 10 seconds before
starting again.
For PRGE3150 only
Recoil starter (3)
• To start the engine, pull the starter grip lightly until resistance is felt, then pull briskly.
• NOTE: Do not allow the starter to snap back against the generator. Return it gently to
prevent damage to the starter.
• NOTE: Do not let the starter rope rub against the generator body, or the rope will wear out
prematurely.
Fuel valve (j)
• Fuel valve is located between the fuel tank and carburetor. When the valve lever is in the
ON position, fuel is allowed to flow from the fuel tank to the carburetor.
• Be sure to return the lever to OFF position after stopping the engine.
Choke lever (k)
• The choke is used to provide proper starting mixture when the engine is cold. It can be
opened and closed by turning the choke lever (k) manually.
• Move the lever to the CLOSE position to enrich the mixture for cold starting.
For PRGE5501 only
