RS485 interface
When connecting external devices to the RS485 interface of the KOSTAL
Smart Energy Meter, please note the following:
Requirements of cable:
n
Rated voltage/wire insulation: 300 V RMS
n
Cable cross-section: 0.25 ... 1.5 mm²
n
Cable type: Rigid or flexible
n
Recommendation: Use the standard cable from AlphaWire with the desig-
nation 2466C. Alternatively, a CAT5e cable can also be used.
Requirements of routing:
n
Mechanical measures must be in place in the connection range of the
KOSTAL Smart Energy Meter's RS485 interface to ensure that individual
wires of the connection cable are at least 10 mm away from live parts.
n
The connection cable must be laid separately from the mains cables in the
distributor and on the installation section.
Requirements of receiver:
n
The RS485 interface of the connected device must satisfy the require-
ments of safety extra low voltage.
n
