Conditions mistaken for breakdowns
CONDITION
PROBABLE CAUSE
Tape does not run.
Tape travel is unsteady.
Reproduced sound is distorted.
Reproduced sound is noisy.
REMEDY
Power cord is unplugged.
POWER switch still OFF.
Tape has reached its end.
Power fuse has blown.
Capstan shaft and/or pinch roller are soiled.
Tape winding inside cassette or tape guides if
faulty.
Recording volume levels are too high.
Record/play head is contaminated.
Tape has warped.
Program material itself is distorted.
Record/play head is magnetized.
Tape is too old.
Program material itself is noisy.
input/output pin plug cords are not plugged in
firmly.
Cannot record.
Tabs of cassette are broken off.
1) Plug in power cord firmly.
2) Turn on this switch.
3) Turn over cassette or rewind tape.
4) Contact the Sansui dealer from whom you
purchased the cassette deck or your nearest
Sansui Authorized Service Station.
1) Clean these parts.
2) Replace cassette.
1) Adjust appropriate recording level.
2) Clean head.
3) Replace cassette.
4) Examine program material.
1) Demagnetize head with head demagnetizer.
2) Replace cassette.
3) Examine program material.
4) Plug in cords firmly.
Replace cassette or seal tab holes with masking
tape.
