Instead of the built-in rubber antenna described in the attached original Tectalk PRO manual
this PMR 446 walkie-talkie has a magnetic foot antenna, which can be positioned on any
magnetic metallic surface (e.g. window sill, car roof, luggage boot flap, boat roof, motorcycle
mud guard or luggage rack etc.).
According to the european regulations the antenna is attached to the radio equipment via a
fixed cable and together with this forms a unit. It is not permitted to lengthen or shorten the
cable, or to enable connection of other antennas by attaching plug-in connectors.
This radio equipment allows optimal radio coverage from vehicles connected to other PMR 446
radio equipment. It consistantly reduces excessive HF radiation inside of the vehicle, and
furthermore avoids radiation losses, as is otherwise common with walkie-talkies when operated
in closed vehicles.
As far as possible, place the magnetic foot antenna on the front section of the car roof and
guide the flexible antenna cable through window or door frames into the interior of the vehicle.
The antenna should be as free as possible and not placed next to other vertical metallic
remote terminals or antennas. An excessively long cable should either be left loose in the
vehicle or rolled up. Detach the magnetic foot and stow the antenna away, when not in use.
Ensure that contact surfaces on metallic and antenna foot surfaces are clean and dry. The
antenna should not remain fixed for too long time in the same spot, as moisture could
penetrate and along with the plastic surface of the antenna foot result in rusting and staining of
the enamel finish.
Also, when walkie-talkies are in some member states not subject to the "use restriction on
handheld phones during driving", you should avoid any inconvenience to the driver by the
radio equipment and use it only according to respective traffic conditions. We recommend to
use a hands-free setup, e.g. AE 38 or for motorcycle helmets our CHS / OHS series headsets.
Ensure the device is firmly fixed in the vehicle (e.g. via handheld keepers) or leave any radio
communication up to the passenger.
The device may be operated only with the internal rechargeable Li-Ion battery. The
rechargeable battery can be recharged only by means of the supplied desk top charger or in a
car environment with our 12 V charging cable (order nr. 7571).

documentation
http://www.hobbyradio.de. According to the latest European decisions, PMR
446 devices are now allowed to be used in all EU member states + other states
applying the EU R&TTE directive, like Liechtenstein, Iceland, Norway, San Marino and
Switzerland. For use at fixed locations a formal application is still required in Italy, while it is
free for travellers to Italy. There are no charges or licence procedures in any other country.
The device corresponds to the European standards EN 301 489-1, -5, EN 300 296-2, as well
as EN 60 950 valid for PMR 446 and carries the prescribed CE marking.
